Best bang for my buck

Hello I am looking to buy the best laptop possible for my needs within my limited price range. My range is around $750, could go a bit higher, but nothing more than $900. Windows only please.

I am planning to connect my laptop to my old PC monitor and use it as a quasi-desktop replacement, however, I don't want the laptop to be of the standard "desktop replacement" type, that is, bulky and heavy. I would like it to be light enough to be easily portable because I will probably be taking it around with me just as often as having it connected to the monitor.

As for what I am doing with the laptop, I will mostly be using it for your standard word processing, internet browsing, and music listening, however I will also be using Photoshop, playing WoW, and will be doing some video editing with the computer. I would also be watching movies and burning CDs with this laptop, so a nice-sized screen would be nice as well. Harddrive space can be whatever. Basically, I would like it as fast and powerful as possible with my price.

The current desktop PC I am using is a 6 year old $700ish 512MB RAM Compaq model that wasn't treated very well by my family prior to my getting it, but I have been using it for most of my purposes listed above, with the exception of playing WoW, as it is unable to run it. However, the computer does take what seems like forever to startup, has constant internet failtures, has trouble streaming some videos from the internet, and it's burning capabilities have died completely. It has been a good, old computer, but I have tired of the constant freezing and slowness that it runs at.

Above all, the laptop that I am looking for should be fast, with no lag or freezing. I don't know if what I want is possible within my price range, and if it's not, if you could give me some recommendations of computers that may not have all of the features that I want, or may be out of my price range, they would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you report this?

Anyways, the Hp dv6700t has an intel processor, and starts at $599. If you upgrade it to $813.99, it can have a 2.0ghz core2duo processor, 2 gigs of ram, 256mb nvidia 8400m gt graphics card (great for this price notebook), a 250gb hard drive, compatible wifi, a DVD burner and Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for your response, the Hp dv6700t looks like it is exactly what I am looking for. It's a shame I can't find it on New Egg though. I am most likely going to end up going for this model and buying it, but just in case, any other recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendation, it looks like a great notebook that fits all of my needs. Do you know how the graphics card on it is though? Also, I was reading a review for the it and it said that Best Buy carries a special "Clay" version of the same computer, and I was wondering if anyone had any information on the special model, as I think it looks much nicer and I can't seem to find it at Best Buy online. Also, although this model looks great and I will probably end up going for it and buying it, anyone else have any recommendations?

i have never heard about the spiecal version, but i have purchashed about 10 hp's for clients and they are excellent computers.

I recommend the HP that was previously stated! I love HP to death. I am very satisfied with my Desktop. Another good brand to look at is Acer.
