I was just wondering if anybody has some good reccomendations on a good set of 5.1 300+ watts computer system. I have looked into z680 z5500s, and not much else. If you have any reccomendations please let me know.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi, dont mean to be patronizing but power rating isn't everything in short it does determine maximum volume, however is the 300 watt systems your looking at measure in pmpo, or rms, as only rms figures are worth looking at.

A friend has a creative labs 5200 system on his computer and for the price is it pretty decents.

it is worth looking at the snr, signal to noise ratio on these speaker systems the higher Db the better as you will get less distortion.

Finnaly remember that sound card is as important a cheap and cheerful creative 5.1 live value for around £20 will make a huge difference from on-board sound which include cmss for up mixing 2 channel audio to 5.1 surround which is handy for music and analogue tv.

I got the Z680's about a little over a year ago and I love them. Not only are they really good speakers for you computer you can also hook them up to many different things. For example I have my PS2 connected to them through optical wire. They sound great! and from what I have been seeing lately they have really come down in price. Oh yeah the logitech people rock, so if you have anything that goes wrong with them they will gladly send you a new set. I don't know how the other companies are about that but that might be one thing to just think about.

I have creative inspire t5400 and they only cost a 100 buck. I really like them. one thing you can do is just go the best buy or some place and test the ones they have out, thats what i did and it really helped in finding the ones i liked.

I used to have creative lab speakers. I got rid of those and bought the Z-680's. They are truely great speakers. The biggest problem I had with the creatives was the power that went to the sub kept faling out. In the logitechs subs, you just plug power into wall. The 680's are nice, since they have a nice control center with an LCD and remote. It also has Digital out, so they can be plugged into your DVD player. Amazon.com sells them for 209.99 with free shipping. I am also buying the Z-5500's for my dad for x-mas. They are an extra $100 for the same power (505 total watts, not peak), but they do look a bit nicer. Not sure i it worth $300, but I am getting them anyways. And with the Z-680's or Z-5500's, they can easily be mounted on a wall. If you have any question with the Z-680's, let me know. I hope this helps you.

Wow are u stupid? Ryan or u jsut didnt look into it

The z5500s are way better then the 6800 beacuse logitech fixed all the errors in the 6800 and came up witht he z5500

Heres what logitechfixed:

When you turn up the voluem u start to hear static and hissing and Also distortion whcih is a big no-no for people who are looking for good speaker

So the best buy in my mind is the logitech z5500 get it from newegg.
