title says it all, i was looking at Beginning Visual C++ 6 book by Ivor Horton (Link), is this any good?

any more suggesitons on books that teach well?

I've tried books to learn programming, but I've found that the best way is to go to a class somewhere, maybe at a community college, or get someone to help who knows the language. There's so much to learn with each language that you've got to be able to ask questions and get answers, and boks dont listen very well.

Maybe I'm just dense, but that's my take.

ye classes are good, but im not sure if thats an option atm. all i wanted the books for is to increase my knowledge of computers so i can inpress people in collage applications or getting a job with computers. untill i buy a book to learn the language ill never know how well i learn from it, so i think its a good investment, i was just looking for a good one to start me off in the right direction, Thanks
