Best Buy Rebates -- Any Problems?

Best Buy is always putting great deals on items that require a rebate to be sent in. What experience does everyone here have with sending in their rebates. I am debating a laptop with a $250 mail-in rebate, but I am assuming I would never see that money again.

Am thinking straight, or am I just being paranoid? Please let me know your experiences with rebates through Best Buy, or anyone else for that matter.

Thanks

I heard on the news that any little mistake and they won't give you the rebate but other than that rebates are good deals. Just double check everything and make sure you filled out everything right and stuff like that.

Yeah, I kinda figured they would toss it out for any mistakes on my part. However, does anyone have any experience with doing them? I had a problem about 2 years ago with Dell. They took forever to tell me they couldn't take the copy of the receipt that I sent them.s Then, it was too late to send it back in.

I wonder if this is pretty common with these things.

I have never recieved a best buy rebate. Not once.

Not on my printer, or ram I bought, or hard drives.

Ever.

I bought my last Maxtor from Circuit city, and Maxtor sent me the $50 rebate.

Whats weird is, most best buy rebate you send to MFG, so maybe all the MFG suxxors.

Newegg Rebate

Well, I just ordered some more stuff from Newegg, instead. I have never used their rebates, but it's $50, and I'm giving it a shot. I'm sure if I have any problems, I'll let everyone here know.

Don't do it, go to Fry's if you have one around and see if you can get the same items you plan on buying, 250 dollar rebate is quite some money and Best Buy never gives you rebates, I know several people who bought there with rebates and never got their money back, including myself, we bought a computer a while back in there and we were supposed to get up to 200 dollars rebate from different items, you know, computer, scanner, camera, printer, all the stuff we bought had rebate, never got a cent back, from either item. I've never gone back to Best Buy since then, been going to Fry's, great store.

I've bought from Best Buy several times because of the rebates in the past and has NEVER got any of them. I don't buy from Best Buy anymore.

I got a 80GB harddrive from them, with two 40$ mail in rebates, and i got them both, it took a whil but i got them both.

I like "instant rebates" much better. I wouldn't count on getting one either, my dad has received them before but they took abnormally long time to get hee, and others he's not received too. With Fry's I've always gotten my rebates back, but usually thy are "instant" too so that's alot beter than the MIR.

I have always gotten rebates from Best Buy, but almost never from Symantec, especially if it involves an upgrade rebate.
