I received an offer from Crucial to get System Mechanic at a supposed discount. I'm interested in something along these lines as things seem to be slowing lately. Any recommendations on system speederuppers ?

Well there are certain aspects of your computer that needs to be cleaned either weekly or daily, i do mine daily.

I'd look at CCleaner a free registry cleaner such as Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 1.8. Keep in mind those are just the basics.

Speed problems can also occur by viruses such as ViewPoint which do absolutely nothing but make your computer do random calculations but some also spy on you.

Speed can also be security related, as i am guessing is why you posted in the security section.
