Best cluster size

Welcome all :)

I wasn't here for a looong time now. That's why I've forgot my username and password, and was forced to create new account.

But enough chit-chat. Here is my... Hmm... Problem(?):

I've one 500 GB HDD, with partitions:

C - System: 30 GB (Cause You never know what might happen ;))

D - Games, games and... Games: 220 GB

E - Movies, music, downloads, documents, installers, and what-you-just-might-think-offs: 250 GB

Everything formatted without any "extras". Simple and default NTFS.

So, here are my questions:

1. What is default cluster size in Windows?
2. What is best cluster size (and why, if You can tell)?
3. Should I change cluster size on any partition, or should I just let it be?

I'll be very thankful for Your replies. You've helped me many times, and I know, that You know, what are You writing about.

Thanks in advance.

No you should let Windows use the defaults for NTFS, not even sure if you can alter that anyway.

What is your higher goal here?

I've read about better HDD performance, when cluster size is bigger.

I want to know is it true, and what would be the best settings for my HDD.

are you having HD performance issues? I wouldn't suggest fussing with the Windows file system and the cluster size (which I think is 4k) because I can only foresee that NTFS will have a problem with that down the road.

Thank You for Your replies.

I've just went on the other forum, and there's written the same thing.

So I'll stay with default settings.
