im looking at a good performing heatsink/fan for my recently purchased i7 860 socket lga1156.

im going to overclock it maybe up to 3.8ghz.

my pc case is going to have in excess of 4x120mm fans with good airflow and cable management will be done to make sure there will be maximum airflow through the case.

i dont want anything more than £60......

thanx ;)

I don't really know any UK sites, but try to get your hands on a thermalright venomous x. Supposed to be one of the best and is lga 1156 compatible.

Edit: The Thermalright Silver Arrow has been getting pretty good reviews too.

I think the cooler is one of the hardest decisions with the balance of size, weight, cost, noise, and performance. The NH-D14 and the Mugen-2 (B) are usually front of the pack, but their huge size can be problematic with memory clearance and case size. The Frio outperformed the NH-D14 in the Frosty Tech review, but It did so with a 62 dBA 101 CFM fan, (48dBa for the Noctua) - Too loud for my needs. When I was shopping for my last cooler, I was looking for something with better than average performance, but middle of the road in size, weight, and noise. I ended up with the Megahalems as a good compromise at 1.6C from the FRIO with a 53 dBA 80 CFM fan, but I also like the looks of the Zalman CNPS10X Quiet at 1.8C above and 47 dBA, and the Thermalright True (not in the Frosty Tech review). And I've always been impressed with the little Xigmatek S1283, (given its size), at 2.7C above the Frio.

Well, my brother is running a i7-870 with this Hyper 212+
I can't remember how high he clocked it.
Also, He put a green LED on it.

That is a lower end cooler (that still does very well) compared to what everybody else is posting.
