Best free AV program??

Hey, just been looking up the freeware list and saw three AV programs:

AntiVir
Avast
and AVG (which I already have).

Just wondering which you rate the best?
I'm happy with AVG but if other people find the others better I'd consider swapping.

Good to get some other peoples opinions.

Cheers :-)

any of those should be fine.. that's why all three of them are listed. all free and pretty good. one or another will not find more errors, if so, very little more.

i like avast, it has real-time scanning, internet mail scanning, instant messaging scanning, network shield, outlook/exchange scanning, p2p shield, and also web shield!!! all-in-one!!! and it's also free, just register and get your free 14 months serial key!!! and it's great!!!

Coming from an AVG user, which happens to be the worst of the freebies, your attitude is understandable.Have a look here.Click online results, then Feb./2006 online results. If you also look at the latest 'Heuristics results', AVG is the worst by a mile.

AVG is better in my opinion (for free)
I'll take that back; only 7% accordinig to av-comparatives...

Its a good one,I used it for 4+ yrs and would still be if I hadn't discovered Nod32. Its normally only a 30 day trial on the Etrust site.
ETA I'd download the free 30 day Nod32 trial, then if I still wanted a free one after the 30 days I'd grab the free year from Etrust.

Ha well I'll have a look into that, Ill tell you what though Avast picked up some shit virus that was in a winamp thing my mate gave me, plus how awesome is it that everytime you find a virus it goes "Warning! A virus has been detected!" in a sweet authoritative/robotic type voice. I even tested it out by downloading some shit "keygen" off morpheus and it got it straight away before it went to my shared file. After trying AVG, Stupid Norton Anusvirus and Avast at the moment avast is winning, my flatties is gonna try Antivir and see how that goes. But I will look into F-secure the first quick browse seems keen. How have you found it so far?

My ISP provides it free of charge and have used it for over 2 years. It ran fine on my system but some users felt it was too heavy. But for detection, it's hard to beat and i purposely released a trojan on it and F-secure sqashed it no problems. It even has 'system control', which guards the registry.
