best gaming laptop?

im finally up grading my laptop. im wanting opinions on what is the best for my money and WHY. opinions and facts with both be appreciated.

i have narrowed it down to either alienware or a Dell XPS.
my first problem is weather to go dual core like the T7200 (2ghz each and 4mb cache) or go for the AMD 64 bit running at like 3ghz +. ( i was a hard core amd fan, but after reading up amd and intell, i will go either way).

im wanting to know wich will give me better performance. i have been told that "you dont run any programs that will use the dual core so why get it". my thoughts are, i am not yet but then again im planning on haveing this laptop for a long time (4+ years like my last one) and idk what software will come out or what future options i will have.

im planning on spending $3,000.00 on JUST THE LAPTOP. thats not including the shipping/tax/bag/mouse/ect... just the computer.

these are what im looking at as of now...

Aurora m9700- has the 64 bit, ( so far this is my choice)
best duo core ??

the XPS XPS M1710-duo core

after the chip, it will have pretty much the same features:
2gigs of ram
100gigs + HDD 7200 SATA (maybe 160gig in raid 0)
video card prolly 256mg 7600
bluetooth
17" monitor
(with these as my minimum specs bumping the price up to 3k from there original prices wont be a problem

so pls let me know what ya think is the best for gameing, i will be doin other things with it, but im thinking that the gaming will require the most performance.

thanks ahead of time for all your imput.

PS if u know of a Better brand or comfigureation im all ears, just keep it at 3k pls

as an after thought... i have found other computers that have better "numbers" for the same price or a llil cheaper, but i thought going for a name brand company that are known for there gaming rigs would be safer and better. is this a good idea or not?

What do you mean the Aurora has a 64bit chip? Both should have it... I'd probably go with the dell. I didn't really look into the specs, but I know the XPS was one of the top rated and fastest gamming laptops avaliable a few months back.

But why are you even considering a gamming laptop? You could have a much more powerful desktop for less. It would last longer, too, and have less failure points. I'm sure the battery life isn't that great on one of the laptops, and they are probably little heaters(over-heating?)

i have an ok gamming desktop and i move around alot so im wanting portability, and im not worried about battery life cause i usually have it plugged it.
