Best Graphic Card Set-up (GAMES)

Hi, would like to know what the best set up for my GeForce 5200 FX is....like what refresh rate should i use ..etc..

There's just way too much to cover :-).. as far as refresh rate goes it's really up to your monitor :-). but 75 is usualy a good number.

1. Refresh rate doesnt matter much. The more the merrier :)
2. I think (and could be wrong), refresh will only affect gameplay when you enable vsynch (which you shouldnt)

is there anything else i can alter to make my gameplay less laggy?
P.S what is the a good AGP aperture size?

why do some people use 8....and say its better for gaming...i gotta GeForce FX 5200 128 Mb and 512 DDR RAM

sorry I should have been more specific. I meant video mem, in your case 128.

Honestly I dont know Y some people use 8, it's been said that it's good to set it too the amound of mem on your vid card so in your case you'd set it too 128. although I dont find that too be the case and usualy just leave it at bios settings, I've tested diff settings and found none to be any better then the other.

ive heard that its the memory of the game ....so some people suggest playing about 64 and others say lower....in my case my box shows all the new feutures from a 4x/to a 8x AGP and my default setting in BIOS was 64 so should i just go with what my video cards box says (8x) >??

K, basicly it's like this. it's supposed to assign a certain amount of system memory to work along with your vid cards mem.

Say you have very little vid card ram like 32 but you've got lots of system ram then you'd want to set AGP aperture size larger but since vid card's today have a large amount of vid ram onboard then a large Aperture size is not really necessary.

as far as your personal settings go it's really up 2 you and what works best. Do however make sure that your bios is set for 8x AGP and Aperture size you can play with to see what works best for you. Also alot of motherboards may not let you set your aperture size to 8. Mine will only go as low as 32 for example.

I just thought, your not confusing aperture size with AGP speed are you? 4x/8x agp is the speed of the agp slot, aperture size is entirely diff.

ya i was confusing it with speed....and i set my aprature size to 8...but it goes up to 256 so...what should i set it too

cannot really say for sure.. You should just try all settings till you come across one that makes you happy :-). you just may notice that you really dont notice a diff. at all. Higher would generaly be better though.

Hey...maybe

I heard that setting it to the max (256), is not always recommended. Well given the fact that the settings assign memory to the graphics card, then I would think that 256 will not hurt it. I mean I have it set to 256 and see no real difference between 64 anyway :)

JAN :)

why do some people use 8
Because they are using very VERY VERY VERY VERY old computers. Most systems now will only drop down to 32

sorry I should have been more specific. I meant video mem, in your case 128.
Because thats all they can afford. And in some cases (like the Sapphire 9600Pros), the 128MB model is clocked (slightly) higher :P

Honestly I dont know Y some people use 8
Again because they are using ancient computers.

I was not asking Y people use 128meg cards :P

The radeon 9800Pro's where supposedly faster with the 128 cards and better overclockers :)

can anyone recommed a game that requires more performance than the average game-mainly because i want to test more games on my pc. (i have already tested battlefield and counter-strike conditon zero) they would extremly well on highest gfx settings.

The thing was with some models of the 9600XT ... the 128MB model ran a 325MEM and the 256MB model, a 300MEM

Define average game :) (but to suggest, Red Mercury)
