Best graphics card?

I don't know how many types of graphics cards there are but I understand that there are 2 basic ones which are ATI Radeon HD and NVIDIA GeForce GT or just Radeon and GeForce? My NVIDIA GeForce GT (1 gig RAM) will play Rage on my Intel E6550 and AMD955 but if I put in the ATI Radeon HD (1 gig RAM) on these computer Rage won't play. So I'm going to build a Game Computer and put in the right graphics card. Can anyone recommend a card for under $200?

With that processor, I wouldnt worry about buying the best graphics card. Because that processor will just bottle neck it anyway. Either invest the money in a new platform, or just go with a new mid range graphics card like a GTX660 or something.

I kind of wondered the same thing. I have an E6500 and will be buying a Radeon HD 7850 1gb card which I think will perform well. I think all Radeon HD 7850 versions seem good.

I'm thinking about building a new PC for games but I can't see spending over $200 for a Graphics card since I'm not a serious gamer. My ATI Radeon HD 5770 does not do well with games on my computers but my NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 does so I'm wondering if it's NVIDIA vs. ATI or Radeon vs. GeForce GT. There are so many companies making the same models I can't figure out which is which.

HD 5770 should walk all over a 240, so not sure why you're finding the 240 is the better card for gaming unless it's a driver or some other sort of software-related issue.

More like the opposite actually.

I get an A for stupid. I went into device manage under display and went to properties for my video card and updated my drivers. After that I still couldn't play RAGE. So it finally down on me to go to the ATI.com and see if they had my drivers. It's now AMD.com and yes they had my drivers which I put in and now RAGE works. What a relieve!

I know that the 5770 is a more powerful card than the 240. What I'm saying is the 240 works in more of my games than the 5770. I think I might just have a crappy 5770 like having a lemon car. Because my 240 works better I'm thinking of the GTX 560. Like having a dog bit your hand so you go out and get at cat.

the first half made little sense and the analogy made none at all, english isn't your native tongue is it?

Please post full system specs including PSU. Do this by downloading PC Wizard, installing and running it, and then got to FILE, SAVE AS and click OK. Copy the text out of that file into this thread along with exact PSU brand and model.
