Hi guys, i need a little help.....

im buying a new setup soon and i am stuck on which motherboard to choose,

im going to get a c2d e8400 with 4 gig of ram.

i have heard good things about the asus p5xxx family of motherboards and the msi neo 2's look good aswell.

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :)

thanks

I'm not a motherboard expert but I would go for the ASUS myself. Depending on whether you want a high-end motherboard or a low-end motherboard I've picked out probably the one I'd go for. The ASUS PQ5. It seems well built and benefits nearly all of your needs. It supports C2D. It's around £80 I think. Not too dear, not too cheap. There's probably going to be a lot more better advice coming your way though. So don't count on me :)

I quite like the Gigabyte P45-DS3P / DS4. I've built stacks of PC's with them, and never had an issue.

well i want the intel p45 chipset (havent had much faith in nvidia chipsets) so i guess that limits me to crossfire.

but for the initial build i am only getting a single card (CF when i have the money to get another card)

any ideas on a decent p45 775 board?

cheers

i had some bad problems with gigabyte and avoid them til this day but not saying they are all bad. when i built my phenom, i went threw 2 gigabyte mobo's which fried one of my cpu's to :o but asus ftw.

If you go with an ASUS P5Q, be warned. You have to turn off power saving settings in the bios or your system will lock when it goes idle, lol. Iv got the same Processor, its great!!
