Best laptop for 1000 - 1200 $

I'm kinda new to laptops so I'm not really the best judge of what is and isnt important in a good laptop, but I'm trying to help my girlfriend find a good laptop for around 1000 $, which could perhaps be stretched to 1100-1200$ max.

I've been looking at laptops at newegg, and these 3 are the ones that I thought, in my humble opinion, looked good.

She doesnt really like computer games so I doubt she'll be using it as a gaming machine, it will be used mostly for internet, work, perhaps something a bit more challenging like video encoding, but very rarely. i know she could probably get something cheaper to do the same job, but I'd also like it to be able to last for a few years, at least 2 or 3.

Now, I think the ASUS M51 Series M51Sn-X2 is the best of them, and also the most expensive, and it seems rather good.

What do you think, or do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks :)

I would steer clear of HP if I were you. That being said, in my honest opinion, I believe you would best off with an Asus. Their laptops are underrated, they are very well engineered and built.

Personally, I recommend most people who ask a Lenovo and/or Asus. Lenovos are great little buggers, very durable, but customizing them to get similar specs as a model you can pickup off newegg can get really expensive. Well worth it in my opinion, but your needs sound like they would be best fit by the Asus you have shown.

The Asus is very well built. I've heard nothing but good stuff about them. Out of the three you picked the Asus is going to be the quickest and most powerful computer. I've heard mixed things about HP but you'd probably be fine with that one as well. I'd try to avoid Acer if I were you, they have a reputation for using cheap parts and poor construction.

Happy buying!
