Hi newbie here..

I'm planning to buy a new laptop. My budget for the laptop is around $600 to $800. I prefer brands like Sony, HP, Toshiba and Dell.

However, I'm a little confuse on which processor is better Intel or AMD. Given same processor specification. An Intel Core 2 Duo or an AMD Turion X2?

And is the on board Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 enough to run game applications?

I have already looked at Bestbuy.com for laptops and found these items:

Toshiba Satellite ($649.99)
- Intel Core2duo 1.83Ghz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 200 GB, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

HP Pavilion ($649.99)
-AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0 Ghz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA) graphics

Given this specification,

which has the better advantage?

And which has the better value for money?

which is better an Intel or AMD processor?

and Would you advice any pros and cons?

THANKS GUYS..

First off, for that price range, any good sony's out of the question
Second: If you're going to do any gaming, I wouldn't suggest either of those laptops because both contain entry level graphics card

I coudn't find any customizable ones on the manufacturer's website for the price you wanted so I went to best buy like you did and found this one:

HP - Special Edition Pavilion Laptop with AMD Turion™ 64 X2

#AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL-60
#2GB DDR RAM
# 250GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm)
# NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics with up to 1023MB shared video memory

ya, im with cyber on this one. both lappys have junk gpus, but if youre not into gaming that wont matter. i would encourage you to check dealnews.com periodically for deals on laptops. deals come and go, so check daily.
