best moboard for mo audio, less game

:confused: :confused:
am building a DAW computer, leaning towards amd but still not 100% sure.
Are there any motherboards that are geared more towards audio than others?
I am not that interested in gaming or grafix for this computer.

What you are asking is what mobo has the best integrated sound chip. The best option you have is to buy a good sound card like a Creative Sound Blaster 4 Pro, if you can cough up the money. What's your budget? According to a magazine the Abit Fatal1ty AAXE is good but its for intel. But you could get a MSI K8N Diamond Creative SB Live! 24-Bit, but I suggest going for a sound card. Like Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.

what is best motherboard for a DAW

Thank you very much fr your reply;

I guess its going t take some time and research to find the right one, at the moment I am pretty set on amd.

Overall I guess what I am seeing on the market our mother boards geared toward the gamer

My budget is not that great, but I may put it together in chunks and average $150-$500 on any given part.

the DAWS that are out there are sorta expensive, I am planning one amd prob this willk prob be the most expensive (I am pretty sure not dual).

still not sure on dual memory or not. this will be for use with a guitar, soft synths sonar (home studio or 4) guitar tracks pro.

my audio card at the moment (75% sure) will be the EMU 1212M. :)

most pof the motherboards I am seeing on the net (geeks, tiger etc,) at bare bones come with some sort of audio.
The sensaround feature is one feature that stands out the most.

my visuals will be one step from a green screen and the least on grafix imaginable, but I would still like decent slots there for the future.

I am pretty set on a rack mount 2 to 3 units I believe I wil average use between 2 hrs and 5.
thanks again for your
reply and input
appriciate any you have to offer

While those are nice sound solutions, i think a more professional solution would be more effectvie here

Unless you planning on PentiumM (and even then), you should be using a Dual Channel setup :)

Pretty much any nForce4Ultra board should be sufficient to suit your needs since most of your requirements revolved around a professional soundcard and system stablity rather than bleeding edge setups

thanks praetor, have read your stuff and truely value your opintion;

Thank you very much for your time and effort; I have heard that someone (Intel?) was chopping their PC desk boards to fit into laptops, could a mother board be altered to have more audio? I guess I understand that the pci slots are shared by audio and grafix and can interfere with one another (at least grafix to audio). So I guess I would want as many pci~e card slots as poss, and those audio areas ( is it like a processor?) that is built into the mobo for sensaround? forgive my newbeness (there is great reading material all round, I just have to catch up.
I have decided amd processor (JUST ONE)
and dual memory (as fast as I can get for the $$$ and good quality)
don't think I can afford corsair @ the moment
I am a guitar player and being so will be investing into an enormous effects processor pedal work station called the digitech gnx4 it has very thing 8 track, effects pedals and computer conectivity i.e. cakewalk software. my computer will do probably just as much as it will but one is to back up the other and they will be used to work together.

sorry to talk your ear off, but I guess thats alot of what goes on these forum thangs.
take steve bro
peace out! :)

ps; I have read most of your computer 101's and find them very helpful and incouraging. ;)

Ive not heard that per-se (unless you are referring to the trend of laptop-makers/boards in a general-type way) ... definitely heard the other way though

Technically true information but about 15 years outdated ;) IRQs are effectively a non-issue now

Glad you like 'em :)

I haven't read the whole thread, but if you are going for a PC that is mainly used for audio, then I would make sure to get a Dual Core Processor. Video/Audio editing takes up an extremely high amount of your CPU%.

And I would suggest a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Edition Sound Card.

I dunno if any audio applications push past two threads....

Well if you're into professional type audio, then a pro-audio card is a better choice than a gaming card

sorry so late on the reply;
$1400 and under
now am totally confused and just gonna keep reading and learning.
maybe mac power book or a rack media center 2-3 rack space (don't want 4 rack as some are selling for DAWs) will double processors toast a micro case???? what about heat pipes??? I don't really like those media centers the ones that have the lit numbers and look like vcrs are they real computers that will hook up to a screen or monitor??
