Hey wat the best mobo for a socket a chip, i know that its a vague question but i basically want it for media (playing videos, music, pictures etc) but also alittle gaming too... i already have a chip its old but imma upgrade it when i have the money

Thanks

playing videos and music and the like doesn't really matter what you get, encoding videos/music you'll want an Intel based platform

Assuming you are going to do video encoding the i865 chipset is good. If you want the new LGA775 platform then go with an i915 variant. The onboard sound on the i915 is really good.

If you'd like an AMD platform I like the nForce line.

I will vouch for the i925x. Havent found anything to complain about yet!

How about performance vs cost?

I was going to add that to my post!

The answer to your question is the i915. (When I bought this comp - once again from your favorite company, Dell - it was with the i925x... :P )

they both look to be alomst identicle (as to be expected with the same chipset) althogh the soltek is packaged with more of the stuff that you will need (it's shown that way anyway, may not be right)

The difference is in how the SATA is supported. With the MSI board, SATA is supported directly via the NV but the Soltek board supports it inditectly via a Promise controller. My choice would be the MSI board (also not the subtle chipset difference)
