The best OS is definetly Windows XP. It is also the most popular used by the majority.

Majority of what? Home desktops.. yes. Servers.. no.

Anyway, MAC's OS X and IBM's OS/2 are both better than Windows XP. The fact that Microsoft are marketing geniuses and Apple and IBM are not should not factor into which OS is actually better... remember, the thread is about which is better not which is more popular.

Hmmm...

It may depend on what you classify as the "best" os. I personally prefer using Windows 98SE & XP than any other.

there's already been numerous polls about this, but o well. I find windows xp to be the best also.

I think that OS X and Mepis linux are the best, but windows xp is by far the most popular, and i am sure that if there was more support for Linux and OS X many people would prefer them over windows XP

your one of the few people on this forum who likes mac os, lol, i dont think its that bad, but im not a Mac person. And im not a big fan of linux either.

At home I have WinXP (and it's the best for me), my internet gateway has Linux (and it's the best for that junk computer), at the office we have Macs (and MacOS X is the best for them).

So what was your question?

i wanted to know is linux would be good for a server/home pc

there would be many software compatibility issues since most major software and games cant run on linux, although some can.

I hate every OS you listed except XP. I love XP, I have MCE 2005.
Regardless of microsoft's claims dont think we can call MCE2005 a different OS from XP. The only difference is the inclusion of the MCE app
