Best Paid-for Antivirus/Firewall

After using McAffee, Norton, Spyware Dr. and Eset, I've come to the conclusion that Eset is by far the most effective among any of these paid for programs (excluding malwarebytes) and in this general cost range (somewhere around $50 or less)

I've had malicious attempts get through all of these but only once with Eset and this when SP3 was not installed. Actually many have gotten through on all other than Eset. Hopefully this might be of some benefit to those looking...


Who else would vote Eset ?

Microsoft Security Essentials is Free and quite good, id go with that...dont need to pay for good antivirus protection.
 
I had Norton like three years ago, it was really good! Better than what people say!
 
I used to use and like Kaspersky Internet Security. :)

Using Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security now. All I can say it is hands down the best I've ever used, comes at a price though. It runs from our home server.
 
i cant stand most anti-viruses now days they are almost all bloated with fancy but useless things. that's why i use MSE its nice quiet and keeps me safe.
 
+1 on MSE as well. It's very lightweight but very powerful. Runs everyday and never notice a performance hit but also never get infected either. It's simplistic, to the point, and works beautifully with the default Firewall in Windows.

No point in paying for AntiVirus when there are good free ones.

Avast is also good too but a little more in your face and flashy I think.
 
I have Kaspersky 2012(http://amzn.to/T6lG7J) because the guys down at the computer shop recommended it for me. They say it has cloud protection so they have tons more definitions than other antivirus softwares which means they can stop more viruses.
 
Microsoft Essentials does a good job on a computer that is known to be clean and free when it is installed. PC Magazine's Anti-virus testing gave the highest rating for paid antivirus to Norton and Webroot Secure Antivirus followed by Bitdefender. The highest rating for a free antivirus went to AVG Antivirus. I think being careful and having a decent antivirus installed should do fine in most cases.
