Best PCI card for under $50

I am considering upgrading from my Geforce4 MX4000 64mb card (I will get a new card, then transfer the older one to an older computer). I only have a PCI slot on my Dell 2400. What is the best I can get for under $50?

will the 9250 with the fan run with the PCI power, or will it require a power cord plug-in?

EDIT: I just read in the reviews that it does NOT have a fan, and it looks different. Is this something to worry about?

Looks like it runs of pci power, don't see a plug anywhere, and if it did it you just need the power from like a 4 pin molex.

OK thanks. It looks like I'll be getting the 9250 256MB, thanks for all the replys guys!

Is there a way to figure out if it has pixel shader 2.0 and all the stuff my old card didn't have :)?

It will just run from the PCI slot. I highly suggest you get the FX5200 or the 9250 that Bobo recommended.

All I can find out is that it has OpenGL 1.3? Sorry, I'm not too informed about video cards.

Its a really old card, I mean what are you gonna use this for anyway, it should play older games smoothly but don't expect it to play today's games very well if at all.

Nothing too intense, things like Return of the King, Delta force games, Flight Simulator 2002, maybe Halo.

It won't play halo at much of a respectable frame rate, atleast my fx 5500 didn't

What resolution were you on? I think I would be using 1024x768. How would it run then?

Here are the video card requirements for halo according to Microsoft
32 MB T&L capable video card required

So the 256mb 9250 is more then enough, especially at 1024x768 even if you had to bump down settings like AA and shading and stuff you should be fine.
