Best PCI card ?

Hi guys I need your help.

I bought a computer a couple of months ago its a :

2.7 ghz intel celeron
512 ddr sdram
and intel extreme graphics with 64mb shared video memory.

It only has a pci slot, no agp.

It is utter sh1t, I can only play halflife 1 at 640x480 at 30-40 fps in windowed mode. Yea thats pathetic.

Now I recently got a job and I have some money to spend.

I'm planning on solving my problem by buying another 512 ram chip and a very good pci card since that is all I can get. I'm thinking of spending 100 bux on one. I know pci cards aren't as good as agp cards, but I think the difference shouldn't be too great.

I hope you guys can answer my two questions.

Question number 1.

Which is the best pci card I can get, for around 100 dollars ?

Question number 2.

What would you guys do in my situation, would you buy the ram and video card or what else are my options ?

First off, don't expect to do tons of gamming with a Celeron... Now, I don't know the best PCI cards anymore, so yeah, probably a 5200 or 5700 would be a good choice.

Also, I might be wrong, but wouldn't full screen 640x480 be easier on the card than windowed mode?

Nope I've tried everysingle possible setting and 640x480 on windowed gives me about 5 more frames than fullscreen 640x480.

ok im about to decide on a card and i have one last question

i've searched and there are 256 mb geforce 5200's and radeon 9250s

is the 128 mb geforce fx5700le better even though the above cards are 256 mb ?

ok so I ordered a stick of 512 ram, and the GeForce FX 5700LE 128 mb PCI. I spent a total of 128 dollars (65 for the card, 63 for the ram) for this upgrade.

My computer specs are now :

2.7 Ghz Intel Celeron
1GB DDR SDRAM
GeForce FX 5700LE 128MB (PCI)
80GB 7200RPM Ultra DMA HD

I can't wait to see how it performs, I'm not going to get excited because I know it's a celeron and the card is PCI, but I think I should be alright. I'm not expecting to game hardcore or anything with this machine. I would at least like to play HL2 with good fps at 800x600.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

BTW, thanks for all the help.
