Best Photoshop to get

CS2 is all you need. It's tried and tested, you never know what CS3 will be like. The higher end PS editions are really overkill for what most people do.

Creative Suite 3

Photoshop Creative Suite 3 definitely, it is the best photo editing software out.

I use CS2 myself, but i know from first hand use that CS3 is better, it has more filters and is more flexible, and works generally better.

If price doesn't matter then go for Creative Suite 3, it is the best!

Don't forget 2-4 gigs of ram to run it

Don't forget 2-4 gigs of ram to run it

I've got that covered xD

hmmmm, i have a crappy tablet pc with CS 2 on it (this things is like super crap) 1 gb of ram crap and CS2 runds fine on it... but its never the same with each person lol

I was running CS3 trial on 512 ram, it worked just fine... I've since upgraded to 1 gig

Yea, i think CS3 made itself more compatiable with lower computer models, but CS2 wasnt taht flexible, just tried it on a 512mb ram pc and was givin me lots of trouble

Nice on the upgrade, you can never have enoguh RAM :D

I use 7 but thats cos I've used it for years, all of the new versions are over-bloated "additions" to 7 which was the first REALLY good version of PS. There is NOTHING you can do in CS2 that i cant do in 7 (and no, that was not a request to challenge...)

Dont get me wrong, I have 7, CS2 and CS3 installed, i hate CS3 beyond belief, CS2 is ok, but i spend 90% of all photoshopping time in 7...

agree with what most people say if money doesnt matter get photoshop cs3 i liked it much more than cs2 and cs3 does really not use that much ram at all i only have 256 mb and it ran ok it wosnt perfect but it really shoudnt take over 512mb to run

Yes, i understand where your coming from dragon, but from experience i have to say that CS3 is the best tool out, and the usability, flexibilty, filters and other all ease of using it is perfect, i am also a big user of FLash and Dreamweaver and so have CS3 versions with all and have fallen in love with how easy it is to use them, its like just having one program

7.0 has been my version for many years.. and all I ever felt like I was getting out of CS2 or CS3 was an automatic heal brush... I'll stick with 7 personally.

In my opinion, CS2 was a BIG improvement over 7 and CS3 is (in comparison) a small improvement over CS2. All that in terms of what your average user needs - taking into account improved quality and ease of use.

I felt like a nice improvement in CS2 was the ability to lighten shadows or darken highlights independent of each other. There are lots of other nice features in CS2 - like vanishing point, or special sharpening filters, or smart objects etc..., but I find that I use that shadows/highlight a lot.

For those of you who love CS3 over CS2.... what photo- and web-editing features do you find better in CS3?
