Hi Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 gamer
Intel(R) Core 2 CPU

[email protected] Ghz
1.59Ghz, 2GB RAM

NVidia GeForce 7900GS

Now my question: What is the best upgrade possible to this setup for gaming (I play mostly RTS, so lots of stuff on-screen) with the least possible spending? I was hoping to keep the upgrade under $200.

Who can help?

Thanks

I would say an Ati 5770 which are about $170 at the moment, or I would wait for the Nvidia GTS 450 to be released this month. they are speculated to be equal the 5770 with prices around the same.

Try looking for some cards on www.newegg.com

What brand/model of powersupply do you have, and what is the wattage and 12v rail specced at?

I'm not sure what the powersupply i have or the wattage... where can i find that information?

Also, how can that affect performance?

The specs of the power supply (PSU) should be physically labeled on the PSU. You're going to need to upgrade your PSU if you're going to be running a higher-end card since it's going to need the extra power. Also, when choosing a PSU, as much as I hate playing the "brand name" game, it's recommended to go with one from a quality manufacturer (Corsair!) because you do NOT want a crappy PSU since it's basically powering your entire system. If you go to Newegg and look under Power Supplies, there's usually a Featured section where it has the best bang for your buck - look for Corsair or Antec, maybe more and always read the reviews!
