Best Processor and Virus protection

Thanks to the lovely people here I've established that the Intel core 2 duo is better than the Dual Core. Now I need to know if there is a difference between a couple of PC's I've seen advertised. One says it's a "Intel core 2 duo" and the other one says "Intel core 2 duo processor". I don't think this means there can be a difference and it's just the way they've described it but I want to make sure. They're both on the PC world website which is what made me question it.
Also regarding virus protection, I recently downloaded AVG and my PC started running SO slowly I had to uninstall it again. Is this normal? What's the point if it does that to your PC? If I buy virus protection from a shop can I use it on more than one PC or do I have to pay out twice? I want to use it on the new PC I'm thinking of getting and the one I've currently got that I'll be giving to my mother. Any idea which is undoubtably the best internet security to buy? Thanks in advance.

The best computer security would be using some anti-virus software, some anti-spyware software, and one firewall.
I don't have virus/spyware software running continously, and only use them to run scans every now and then.

(I use AVG Free Edition, Lavasoft Ad-aware, and Zone Alarm).

i have used avg free for a year now, great software.... about the zonealarm, i wouldn't recommend it, as if your running, macromedia dreamweaver, it will disable you being able to connect to your site, as well as numerous other sites on the web, that are still not too harmful, but for what i do, it just takes too much time to set exceptions, my thoughts, good choice on the avg tho...

thanks

Just to let you know, the Core 2 Duo is a dual core :D

Yes I kinda thought that it was but about 2 weeks ago I asked here what the difference was between Dual Core and Core 2 Duo and I was told Core 2 Duo was way better.

Thanks for all your help guys. Interesting to me that no one recommended I buy Norton or McAfee. Thought they were meant to be the big guns!
