Best RAM ever of all time.

I'm trying to build a half way decent gaming computer for (around) $1500. I had originally selected this RAM, but after looking around on Newegg, I think this RAM is better.

Could someone tell me what's better? The G. Skill is DDR2 @ 1000mhz (4 gigs) while the Mushkin is DDR2 @ 800mhz (4 gigs). The Mushkin costs $50 more and is also slower. I know they're both good brands, and both products have good reviews. Is it okay to go with the G. Skill? (The only reason I'm asking is because I didn't want cheap [crappy] ram.

Thanks.

G.Skill is perfectly fine, I would go with it mainly because it's cheaper. Remember though that on most motherboards you will have to manually set the RAM speed to 1000, because most support 800 as the maximum speed.

The GSkill is faster but has slightly worse timings. Both sets run at 2.0-2.1V to get to the advertised speed/timings. With that in mind, I'd go with the GSkill as then you could probably run it at 800 and the same timings as the mushkin or just run it faster :)

I'm assuming you use the bios settigns to set the speed of the ram? (Right now I'm on a Dell, so I've never had to deal with it).

Also, once I order it, how would I know if its running at 5-5-5-15 @ 1000mhz or 4-4-4-XX @ 800mhz? Again, the bios settings?

It has higher timings because it has a higher frequency.

I know, that's the other difference in the RAM though.

Yes, the BIOS will tell you and that's where you set it if necessary. CPUz can as well. You will may have to set everything on the GSkill manually as they might have programed it with safe settings.
