Best RAM for E6600?

I'm putting together my first build and am looking to find the best memory to go with my processor (Core Duo E6600). I plan to get 2GB (2 x 1GB) of DDR2 memory but I'm not sure whether I should be choosing 800 or 1000. I am trying to get the most out of my processor WITHOUT overclocking. Since I am new to building my own computer I am simply focusing on pairing the best memory to go with my E6600 so any and all advice is welcome.

Since you don't want to overclock I'd suggest you take DDR2-800. To use DDR2-1000 to it's full potential you'd have to overclock (I don't know of any boards that support it as a speed).

Thanks Cromewell I'll look into DDR2-800 and in case it helps, I'll be using the P5W-DH Deluxe mobo. So does anyone have any advice on which DDR2-800 memory to choose?

without overclock you should buy speed that matches the processor so you would want pc8500 1066mhz then you would want to run it 1:1

No, you don't want to be looking at DDR2-1067 or DDR2-1000. Both are a huge waste of money. Currently, your best choice is to get a set of DDR2-800. It will work perfectly fine.

Thanks for all your help guys, I'm going to go ahead and find some DDR2-800 CL4 memory (hopefully for $200-$250).
