Best Router Brand? And what I should Get?

What router brand do you like?
I liked Linksys but I think the WRT300N router was their 'screw-up' product. It was a 270mbps capable data transfer rate router, but would break after a few months by getting lower transfer rate, at the moment the transfer rate is 13 mpbs with "excellent" connection. A waste of $130...

Anyone know a good 802.11n router?
 
well, draft-n products havent actually been fully released yet, they are still testing, they're jsut releasing products as they go along, none can be fully garunteed, so i don't know wuite what you expected...

Anyway, to the question, which one do i prefer, probably Linksys, even though i only own one of their products, the rest are from other manufacturers. It's still by far the best out of the lot of em

I hear good and bad things about Linksys... Particually about their cheaper ones. Belkin's are pretty much the low of the low. I've actually heard decent stuff about D-Link, but stay away from their cards :P

Personally, I'm VERY pleased with my Buffalo router.
 
My Netgear router has been nothing but stable and it's still going after 4/5 years of use without fail. Although their firmware update is absolutely poor in the sense of how frequent and the bugs they fix. But for stability, Netgear routers aren't too bad (although with some of the later models I've heard nothing but bad things).

Breaks.
 
I've been using belkin for a few months now best router I've had so far dlink and netgear arn't bad either
 
OMG i dont know about other models but my belkin 54G wirless router SUX!!! every hour i have to f'ing unplug the damn thing and then plug it back in to get it working!!! and then i have to unplug the modem too because if you unplug one you have to unplug both... omg im about ready to pour alchohol all over this thing and throw it up in the air, then shooting it with a flaming arrow...

Asus 125mbps router introduced last year voted best product by, if i am not wrong, 360 magazine, is the best router i have used (almost all brands i have used including the four listed out on top). i bought it for around 2600 indian rupees from iterials.com, Binary World, Malleshwaram, Bangalore branch.
 
If you're going to get an 802.11draft-n router, then you should buy from a manufacturer that makes alot of cheap 802.11draft-n cards. The reason being because if you want to take advantage of 802.11n's speeds and ranges, you have to buy the adapters and routers from the same company, otherwise they may not work.

Are you positive about that? That was what I was thinking, but thought to my self, "Hey it worked for 1-2 months with speed cranking 270 mbps and later on dramatically dropping." I'm not sure if both the adapter and the router have to be from the same company for it to work properly, but you may be right.
 
I've been runningthe same Linskys 802.11G WRT54G router for about 3 years now, works fine, only a few random hiccups, but that's only every few MONTHS or so. I would've been running the same network card in my desktops for the same period of time, but last year I accidentally snapped the antenna off of the back of the card , requiring tape to hold it in, and just decided to go out and get the PCI card with speedbooster. All work fine.
 
If you want a decent Draft-N Router, I recommend Netgear for their extremely stable platforms at low prices. I have had a Netgear Modem for 6 years, never once failed, and I only bought a newer one because I need to connect 6 PC's to one internet connection. They're very reliable and the setup process is so easy, it takes about 5 minutes to transfer your settings from your old Modem/Router to the new one.

I specially recommend this model for you; check out the specs on Ebuyer.com. Its £99.60 ($197.65) from there. Its the model that I've had for a couple of months now, and I've never had any problems with it, even running in a very busy network environment (16 network devices, plus 3 printers and a 24Mb broadband connection). It offers very good signal strength with Rangemax capability, and transmits upto 15 times further and faster than 802.11g. The default speeds are 270Mbs, but at times, I have got to 292Mbs. The network cards and USB adaptors by Netgear are on the same page.

I have used netgear, belkin, and linksys and out of all them the linksys was the best and the belkn was the worst. Although the linksys is more expensive they make up for it with quality. So my choice would have to be linksys,
 
lol maybe i should just connect this card to the linksys un-secured network that my neighbour has... hmm...

I originally had a D-Link, but one day it simply stopped working. I got a Netgear, but ever since I've had a slow connection and have been needing to unplug and replug ever 30-90 mins. I'm planning on switching to Linksys.
