Best Server CPU?

Hey...I have 3 options available to choose for a CPU for my new server. :)
Please help me choose which is the best. I'm stuck between Xeon, Core 2 Duo, and the Pentium D CPUs.

Which one is better? They are all dual core..

Intel Dual Core 3.4Ghz
1GB Ram
160GB Drive

Intel Duo 6750
1GB Ram
160GB Drive

Intel Pentium D 850 Dual Core 2.66Ghz
1GB RAM
160GB Drive

Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
1GB RAM
80GB Hard Drive

Intel Core 2 DUO 6300
1GB RAM
250GB SATA 7200 RPM

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU
1GB DDR2 RAM
250 GB Hard Disk

CPU: 1 x Dual Core Xeon 3050
Memory: 1 GB
Harddisk: 1 x 160GB SATA

take the pentium D out of the equation straight away, xeon and C2D are far better. Its then between the E6600 and the Xeon 3050. I think the e6600 will be a faster processor in general but the Xeons are designed for servers in mind.

To be honest I dont know a huge amount about the xeons so i will leave that to another to run through.

Out of the ones you listed, one was designed to be a server processor, so...
Well, to be quite frank, there are no "official" processors for servers. I've seen Xeons on Laptops, if that's the one you're pointing to. I've even seen l337 desktops made for big company servers (saves companies a lot of money).

Please do recommend me the best processor. I am truly stuck between the Dual Core Xeon 3050 or the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750.

The Core2duo. Like you said, the Xeons are not truly designed around servers, they're simply conroe chips, that've just had extra stress-testing, and their clocks and voltages lowered to make them extra stable. ;)

Bah, now this is a hard decision. :p I plan on using my processor for 64-bit technology applications. I will be using a 64-bit operating system, most likely CentOS on the server.

I know Intel Dual-Core Xeon is a good processor line for servers. When I talk to a lot of hosting companies, they recommend me this processor above all the AMD [dual and single core] and other Intel single cores they have in stock.

But now that Intel has released its Core 2 Duo technology, I really am not sure what to choose: Dual-Core Xeon or Core 2 Duo E6750.

I guess I can try narrowing it down to be more specific with my questions. Please note that these questions are based on trying to compare the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 processor and the Intel Dual-Core Xeon 3050 processor.

1.) Which processor uses less power?
2.) How fast is each processor [in gigahertz]?
3.) Which processor has bigger cache [L1 and L2]? How much does each support?
4.) Which processor over-clocks easier/becomes faster than the other?
5.) Do any of these processors overheat or have a bad reputation for failing etc? I plan on having at least 1GB of RAM, most-likely 2GB of RAM on the server with dual 7200rpm hard drives with RAID 1 set-up.

Thanks. Hopefully those above 5 questions will be answered by you tech-pros and will help me, along with a few other people, narrow down the choice in processors. :) I wish I could compare on TomsHardware.com but they don't have the Intel Xeon 3050 in their charts!
