Sorry I ask alot on these forums haha I just want to make sure one last time..everyone seems to point me in the direction of the radeon 7950's

can you recommend one please and thank you, from this site canadacomputers.com

don't want to buy from a site cause reading reviews scare me on how they have to rma and wait weeks.. or only get half there money back..

my case is Cooler Master CM 690 Advanced Black ATX Mid TowerCase and someone told me it can fit a 7950 I don't know how big the other cards are, but i'm currently using a 6950 HD

Pesonally, I would not ditch the 6950 yet, unless you are running 1440p or above. It is plenty for a single monitor, and the next gen Radeons should be right round the corner (quarter 1 2013)

well I only play one game and I need at least a 10fps increase, and I want it now really badly cause i'm greedy mwha

wait, you are about to spend $300 to get 10 FPS more?

Talk about wasting money. Just OC your card. Try 960MHz core, 1450 MHz Memory and 1175 voltage. Should get you your 10FPS, maybe, depending on the stock settings of your card.

haha, ... In amd control center it only allows me to do 840mhz and 1325

but besides that I am down for wasting money I will end up giving this card to my brother for christmas ;P

and the stock settings is 800mhz core and 1250 memory

I just don't see spending money for the hell of it when a simple program can fix your issue. Use Trixx or EVGA Precision and OC that way. Never rely on AMD drivers to do anything besides tell the OS what card you have.

use trixx. Precision is a hit or miss one. I can't do any OC in it, but Trixx will do 1000MHz on my strong card with sky-high voltage (1.3V).

scroll down to the bottom. It is the last option on the list. Grab the slider and drag, or click on the number and type your desired voltage in millivolts and press enter.

Okay well I looked at forums of others overclocking there card so I decided to be on the safe side this shit scares me because Im a noob.. don't really want to break the card without having a replacement already anyway, I put it to 900 core clock and 1325 memory clock and did everything else u said and when the game was loading for w/e reason the screen flashed I saw wierd tearing and tearing that like.. flowed up on the screen, (I am guessing this is cause the graphics card didn't like what I did) anyways game loaded fine still played for about 5 mins I noticed the fps increase for sure.. but.. the card went to 62C in like 5 mins

I think I just want to buy a new card haha

also I found out that my card has the dual bios, >> I think anyways the label says it has dual fan & bios

1. That is a sign your voltage is too low. at 900MHz, you should be fine stock though. What are your memory speeds set to?

2. That is an okay load temp. These cards are good up to the upper 90s. If you feel it is too hot, then up the fan speed, which is on a separate tab from OC in trixx. Speedfan is more accurate in fan speed though.

3. Just go one step at a time and you will not ruin your card.

4. All Cayman based cards have dual BIOS. One of the good things about AMD there.

5. I spy a 6950. Have you tried unlocking it to 6970 core? That would give you a few FPS more than just an OC.

try 960 core @ 1200mV with stock memory and see if it still flashes.

that's wierd if its a sign of low voltage isn't it? I did have it set to 1175, hmm.. well I'll have to try this later and yeah I need to try unlocking it to a 6970 core but last time I looked for the switch I couldnt find it just need to take the time and take the card out thanks for all your help but i'll have to try this later

It can be voltage, or it can be unstable memory. try going native (should have a reset button), and push only the core to 900 and move the slider to 20 again, and see if that affects it the same way. This will eliminate memory as the cause.

And the switch is at the top of the card right behind the 2nd CFx connector. But you don't need that to unlock a card unless the flash fails. http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/159 will show you how.
