i am getting a sff computer with 754. What is the best cpu for it. I know the 3700+ is the best for that socket but they have gone up in price and i was looking at the venice 3000+ but please comment about this

Heya

The Athlon 64 Venice 3000+ is an excellent processor. If you intend to OC, it's an excellent choice and will hit 2.5Ghz + easily. However, you would need a good OC board such as the socket 754 DFI Infinity.

JAN :D

i have the 3700+ and its a good chip... i used to have a sempron 3100+ and i got that running at 2.4ghz.... the lower-end chips are good overclockers however... its only when you move to the higher-end of the spectrum that your overclock is limited

now the 3700+ is a clawhammer so it would be better than a 3000+ venice. The Clawhammer has 1 MB L2 but the Venice has SSE3 and the cheapest i have found the clawhammer for is $215 an dthe 3000+ is $120

The venice core is a better core, but in this case the cores are not the main factor, its the 700 PR point between the 2 :)
There are other chips between them you know ;)

venice is better.. its 90nm instead of 130nm making it run much cooler. this makes it more o/cable, not to mention more stable, plus its at a higher clockspeed (i believe) making it actually perform better. i can't seem to find a clawhammer on newegg, maybe you mean newcastle? i know i used to own a 3400+ clawhammer (not ocable AT ALL)... and i highly suggest the venice core.
either way, venice = win.
btw 3700+ venice would be your best bet. 939 is better though, it supports dual channel ram.
