best video card out?

gtx 295 for nvidia, but for ati 4870x2 their top right now i believe, correct me if im wrong.

The GTX 295 is the best, but the GTX 295 is actually just two gtx 275's. If you want the best, perse, Then get two GTX 280's and SLI them
for Ati, i do believe the 4870 X2 is still the top.

As far as singlecards, GTX285 2GB and HD4890 are the top cards, with nvidia and ati respectively. For nvidia, the asus MARS(limited edition though) is the best for dual gpu singlecard, while as far as standard availablity the GTX295 is the best. For ATi, the 4870x2 is the best single card dual gpu card.

haha this thread is a little mixed up, all of the information but across different posts :P

the most powerful single video card you can buy is asus GTX295 Mars edition

That is nvidias most powerful aswell as best single card.

For ATI it is the 4970x2

each of those cards have 2 chips on them though, the ATI 2970x2 has 2 4970 chips and the GTX295 has 2 GTX280 chips

If you want a single chip card then

nvidia GTX285 is best or ATI 4890

All of that was said below but muddled across posts, just condensing :D

hmm... you guys seem to of forgotten some of those crazy workstation cards. The nVidia Quadro FX5800 or ATI FireGL V8650, for example. Those are probably the best graphics cards available at the moment.

True, for workstation uses though. The main difference is the added vram and the bios/drivers though, they use the same core as the current desktop video cards. Plus they suck for gaming:P
