Best video card you can run off a cx430

can you give us the rest of your computers specs, including memory card readers, fan controlers how many usb devices are you using, ect ect. i wouldnt imagine too big of a card, but with a cx430, it will depend what it has to power before the card gets any of its power.

Asrock 880g motherboard am3
Amd Athlon II X2 270 3.4ghz
4gb ddr3 1600mhz gskill ripjaws
corsair cx430
standard dvd drive
250gb seagate barracuda 7200rpm
1x fan with 3 pin connector
1x fan with molex connector

I was thinking the 6850 would work but I am not sure.

You'll first have to update your cpu to at least a phenom. After that, an hd7770 should be ok.

I dont quite understand why exactly I "have" to have a phenom cpu. I understand bottlenecking however I only play a game like wow. The most important part of gaming is the video card so I dont see why an athlon ii processor wont do just fine.

You won't have sweet gaming with an athlon dual core. It's waste of money to spend everything on the gpu when your cpu is limiting you.

Just a quick question I have been hearing about that the graphics can be used as hybrid crossfire like the onboard gpu and the radeon gpu can be used together. Do you have to install both drivers for onboard and the gpu? Also does that only work for amd or does it work on intel aswell. Like could you mix and match an amd processor with a nvidia graphics card and still get the hybrid crossfire?

Hybrid crossfire only applies to the AMD APUs, which use the FM1 and FM2 sockets.

Your 880G motherboards igp can hybrid crossfire with an HD 5450 only. Still won't be adequate for gaming, the performance gained is very small, and the expence isn't worth it.

I changed to build it was just a prospect build

Its a 990fx asrock motherboard now sata 6gb/sec usb 3.0
FX4100 quad core 3.6ghz

Can the 990fx support hybrid crossfire on the 6850?

990FX and all other 900 series chipsets do not have graphics standard. So no. You can not crossfire what is not there.

to be honost, you dont "have" to upgrade the cpu first. yes, the athlon II x 2 3.4Ghz will hold the card back, you will still be able to game. you will see some bottlenecking happening, but for the most part, you will be able to have an enjoyable gaming expeirience. you can always upgrade the cou later, and better still, maybe have enough to upgrade to an intel platform. i was a long time user of amd cpu's, and i thought they were great. then i was able to try out intel for the 1st time in years, and let me tell ya, the cores ar simply faster. i was running a 1090t @ 3.9Ghz, and after using an i5 @ 3Ghz, i can deffinatly see that the 1090t was bottlenecking my 2 x 470's that i had running in sli. i gained an average of 14fps by using the quad core 3ghz intel over the 6 core amd at 3.8ghz. just my opinion, is that you can still have a good gaming experience with a new card now, and save up for a better intel later. that way y ou wont have to wait so long to start gaming.
