Whats the best free "website maker thing"

I'm currently learning html, i would like to write out html and make a website, but imsaving that for the summer, after i know alot more and have time.

right now I wsnt to make a website for my DoD clan I have a host and a domain. I want to make it pretty quickly so I wanted to use one of those pagemaker things. whats the best free one where I can just save the files as html files and upload it.

I would like a free one if possible.
 
Depends really if you want a really good "website maker" as you put I suggest buying "Dreamweaver MX" a great tool and can create great websites. But I'm not to sure about the free ones, I suppose Tripod or freewebs.com they can make decent websites but are full of ads.

My suggestion would be go with Dreamweaver, you dont need a massive knowledge of HTML (although if you do have a good knowledge of it, you can make the site using the built in HTML Editor)
 
damn straight, i when i first made my web site (about a 2 year ago) i did the thing in HTML. Using 1st Page 2000 http://www.evrsoft.com/1stpage2.shtml
Now i now i should have just used MX and would have saved me ages. And i cant be bothered to spend the days required to convert it to use MX so i just slave away with 1st Page. What a sucker.

Thats why my code looks shi7. But you do learn a lot more using a HTML editor and a keyboard than using MX and a mouse.
 
True but for us lazy slobs who that dont have the time to learn HTML (me! :P) Dreamweaver MX is the easiest thing to use.
 
Tripods and stuff if definatly now for me, full of ads and not enough webspace. I already have a host with a domain.(the domain isn't rrgistered yet the guy is doing it for me) anyways its from ne0-net great cheap service(tell them i refered you, i might get a month free :) , Kyle Traynor thehouseofmegaman www.ne0-net.com if you join.)

I need something i can get then upload it on to my server seperatly. How much dose MX cost it may be worth getting but i would rather use something free.
 
Dreamweaver is perfect for what you want, but.... it's extremely expensive we're talking about £339 in the UK and probably abotu $259 is the US which is why you might not want that. It's a VERY worthy investment but depends if you are going to use it often or just use it a little bit.

Notepad :) Dreamweaver has a good WYSIWYG interface (as said before, perfect for us lazy people) and lets you see the code and change it if you like.

Notepad maybe a good answer to this is depends on what he is actually looking for. If he wants a program that will upload to the server or wheter he just wants a HTML editor and upload the files from the website's FTP server.
 
www.freewebs.com has a builder but it has to be hosted under them. I have another host im using i need to be able to save the files on my Pc and then upload it on my server.


I dont know enough html for notepad yet, im learning though, and thats what i plan to use in the summer for my bigger website. but for now it is for a DoD clan and i want to use a builder of somme sort that I can download.

Mate, you might want to have a look at e107. it's pre-prepared PHP coding with integrated forums, shout boxes, you can arrange the layouts, it has a nice member database where people can register, all the emails to members are automated, and best of all it's free and fully customisable.

To see an example of e107, just go onto the e107 website. That site is made using e107.
 
I've worked with phpNuke before, that's a good one...almost all clan sites i have seen have m=been made with this phpnuke stuff...

Are you on about e107 mate? if so, you have to upload all of the files to your server. There is a help file included in the package, have a read.
 
I deiced after a long time shearching. I'm just going to write it out in html, starting with a template :) It will take me longer since I am still learning html but I already started it :)
