Best X800XL Drivers?

My card will be here tomorrow, what would be the best drivers to use?

Old Catalyst drivers which have been proven very good?
The latest drivers and CCC?
Omega drivers?

yeah, the newest ones probably. Just use ATI's driver page to find it.

i used to have a X800XL, a fast little card it is.
 
i would just go with the latest drivers.
Omega drivers are ment to be faster. You wont notice it in benchmarks. It's mostly tweaks which will show in games.
But they do tend to be a little more buggy then the official drivers.

If you've got the time to test them properly on your rig and don't mind the hassle go with omega, If you just want to game without being disturbed by errors go with the official ones.

Note: omega drivers only increase the performance in between 1 to 5% maybe.
 
Why wouldn't you want to use the latest 6.10 drivers???

I have the Sapphire x800xl 512MB pci-e card using the latest drivers, and it works perfectly. At 1280 X 960 in HL2: Lost Coast, I get aprox 55 FPS with max settings.. that's good for me.

Normally the latest drivers will improve performance and fix bugs from previous driver releases..
 
newer versions don't have to mean they're better.
sometimes you get 2 more bugs with the code you've added/changed to try and solve 1 bug.
 
the latest ATI drivers have has created problems for me in my previus rig so i always downloaded older drivers :)
