Beware about this shop--> www.geeksbuy.com

That's unfortunate, and what is worse I'd say is that you had no warning of the potential trouble. All those negative feedbacks were after you purchased. :(

wow!

I have never used ebay, and this only adds to my desire NEVER to use ebay.

When I used to buy cd's from various sellers on Amazon.com I would only go with a seller whose customer feedback was at least 4.8 ot 4.9 out of 5 and the amount of feeback posts was at least 500 -1000...

In today's society you can not trust people..

Then... I received this new Email on December 14

Good Day,

I wanted to take the opportunity and personally apologize for the shipping
delays that have occurred with your product. To provide some clarity we were working exclusively with a distribution
firm that was not honoring their quoted prices and at times when they were, decided to take longer to
ship these items to our clients.

^^^ wait a sec... they said the same thing over and over in the customer feedback.... wow! Thats their excuse FOR EVERYTHING!

Hope you can report them to someone!

Ebay is definitely a buyer beware situation, especially whent he given user doesn't have many feedbacks, as in the case of that particular user. I've been using ebay for over 5 years now and never had any problems purchasing items, mostly golf clubs...lol. Regardless, you really have to be careful buying something, especially when it's via a "dealer" of this sort.

You say you have never had any problems... Can you give us some of the reasons why?..

Is there a set of criteria the seller must meet before you consider buying from them, etc...?

I only buy from sellers with alot of feedback, and a feedback rating (percentage of positive feedbacks compared to negative) of at least 98 or better. I prefer to only buy when the seller has pictures of the actual product for sale (very pertinent with golf clubs when they are used). Basically if it's someone you aren't sure about, or have a bad feeling about, it's not worth buying from them.

Beyond that I've been pretty lucky to be honest. The VAST majority of sellers on ebay are fine, but there are definitely some that are going to try and screw you over if they can.

One thing to add, is to use Pay Pal if at all possible for your payment. That way, if you do indeed end up in a situation where you need a refund and the seller won't do it, you can get a refund through pay pal. Pay pal always gives the buyer the benefit of the doubt, and will basically refund your money immediately, pending an investigation on their part.

Having looked at their website, I gotta say it looks like they're a startup company. Probably running low on $$ and trying to make a buck. Hell, they're sticking to the same story through out which is a good sign. If they had different stories all over the place then I'd really be concerned. Having been a small business owner myself for a couple years, I know what it's like when funds run low and you need some capital. Their supplier may have given them a good deal, and then not been able to deliver on the goods as promised. It happens. Unfortunately through ebay, the dirty laundry gets aired immediately.

Keep us posted!

LOL ebay's always been a buyer beware thing for me and always will .... hence i get other people to buy for me :P

I've received a monitor last week. But it is far what I've paid for. I've paid for a New, grey, 16 ms 170FG monitor screen... And I've got
a USED, beige monitor with scratch and full of yellow spots... who proved the product is use!! I received this in a cheap box... with no protection and no plastics... no receipt for warranty, no user manuel... and without the 100$ rebate they have promise.

I've sent many Emails to Richard Throgmorton, Erik Brisson, Mark Herrmann, John Beke, Wayne McAlpine, et Jean Jasmin (The geeksbuy staff) and I've got no responses since January 25.

But with the help of this forum... many future customer of geeksbuy have entered in communication with me since 2 weeks to take information about this bad business... Thanx very much to you ;)

ebay is a fine palce to buy stuff if you are not ignorant. Read the description, make sure the person has at least 100 feedback (from people s/he sold to) and make sure their rating is 98%+ and you are pretty much guarenteed your item.
And if you buy from the "power sellers" it is no different than buying from a store. you have 100% guarentee.
