I just bought this used off e-bay for $15, (upgrade from my MSI 6600.) When I first put it in, I was getting artifacts,(specifically colored pixels) from the BIOS to my Desktop. 3dMark and all games were pretty bad as well. After a few days, everything pretty much settled down on it's own.
Why do you suppose that happened? (it was shipped in bubble wrap, static?)
Now I have a huge fan sitting under the card wired to an old light switch that I have to turn on while playing any games to keep it cool and artifact free.
Is this attributed to poor case ventilation? Or is their something about never buying used video cards? Thanks for the help.

Maybe the previous owner overclocked it and never returned the timing to manufacture setting?
