BFG tech's plan

I've heard something about physics cards that will do all the calculation of in game physics which will take work off the cpu, might have somethng to do with that, but my guess is a shot in the dark so don't take it as truth

it will be a physics card, sounds like a nice addon when you consider how much strain this will take off the other components in the system... a new term is gonna start flying around and it'll be PPU

i have heard the PPU before. i'm guessing it will be the phys card. BUT is there like DX or OpenGL for physics? there has to be a common languge to get these cards to work with games. just think phys cards in SLI! for braking glasss or any other partical physics in games these cards will be amazing. 512mb GDDR3 w/ 550Mhz core clock(made up specs). yeah that will gaming to the next level.

Bold statement? No I would say generalized, so as to avoid any bad press that would come back from a statement which is more to the point!

CPU--->GPU---->???? The likeness will not be seen in March 2006

Hairy Lee is right, the original company that came up with the physics card, Ageia, went out of business or went bankrupt (or something) and dropped the project. I read in an issue of CPU that another company (I'm 98% sure it said BFG) picked up the project and there was a release date sometime this year.

Ageia hasn't dropped the project, not to my knowledge, it's still theirs.
