Big BackUP Issue

So I have a 1TB External HD. I use the Norton Ghost to back up and I have the backup folder that the software makes, and also a folder I made for manual backups of personal stuff. I had an issue where the computer for some reason was booting from the external hard drive so i turned it off. Now I dont have my manual backup folder. I had some major stuff on there that I deleted from my computer a very long time ago. What can I do?

the drive is on right? im assuming so...then try recuva.

i havent had a reason to use this yet but piriform has a file recovery tool called recuva google that and give it a shot let us know how well it works. the rest of their programs are good so i would think that would be decent.
