just about ready to purchase, stuck between boards. Question is which one will be a better safer buy, trying to max budget and performance. INPUT NEEDED TO MAKE DECISION. I don't know enough to make best decision re these, and what is inside of them(ie fsb makes big diffrence, more important for ddr3, x48 much better thank intel NB, if one is more stable than another). plan to keep computer/componets for 2+ years, do gaming, use for media apps, general tasks. trying to keep under budget, wondering if go with more $mobo, and cutting something else, or going with less mobe. thanks for all your input,,,

1. -'s slower fsb, intell NB, +'s ddr3 upgrade in future, approx $80 less, no firewire

2. -'s more expensive, +'s x48 NB, faster fsb, esata and firewire.

well, before you buy just think:
"Do you want an extra $80?
Do you need eSATA? Will an add-in card work?
Do you need F.W.? Will an add-in card work?"

I personally would get a DDR2 P45/ P35. You would not about to use DDR3 and DDR2 RAM at the same time, no point to buy that mobo.

And I believe intel having new CPU with new socket next year.. 3-4 year down the line when you want to upgrade, you'd probably look into a new PC anyway.

It depends which processor and RAM you want to use.

edit:

By the way, X48 and P35 are both Intel chipsets, and having an Intel chipset isn't a con.
