Big disk drives?!

Hey

Why do people have such large disks/multiple disks? There must be a reason, just I dont really know why?

I know people do use large amounts of storage, so what kind of things do you store? I have a load of vids and mp3s, thats about 3gb, with a backup onto another drive thats only 6gb. Obviously with the size of the OS as well, but still?

movies games and music and recorded tv shows and the os and other applications take up space and sometimes alot of space.

GTASA is 4.9GB!
its mostly DVDs they are 4.7 each and some people have a whole libary of them in their PC. I think thats the main reason.

i have 1 80Gb and it got filled up fast, i really underestimated, i bought a 120b after that, toal 200Gb and that still isnt nearly enough, i now leech off my dads HDD across te network. lol

movies, songs, games, steam loaded with a good selection of updated games is bloody massive...

UT2004 is around 5-6GB. It takes 6 CD's to install

Yea, mp3s, videos, games.... I am using 400GB and i am rally having to restrain what i put on the hdds. Lol i am using about 80% of my house hold computers' storage.

I currently have a 320gb drive, Thought It would be LOADS of space but its not nearly enough, had it a week and already used 146gb.
I installed 4-6gb games, record tv, download 700-800mb dvds and and rip dvd's, each dvd is about 5-7gb and I have over 22 to do!!

I have 200 gig and use about half of it, i have around 50 gigs of ISO files, 25 of dvd's, 1 gig on the web server part, loads of recorded TV, windows, lots of programs, it seems like the more HDD space you have the more you use, on my laptop with only 30 gig i never used it all, but now it would be impossible to backup everything on my hard drive to anything i have

Lee :D

Jeez, I wondered like Joe what on earth fills up these huge drives. I've got an 80GB drive and most of the time there's less than 10GB on it. And I can back up everything on my slave 20GB drive on just 3 DVD-RWs!
Thanks guys, for answering a question I had wondered about as well for a long time.

Thats really not such a bad thing either, your computer will run faster if its not full of stuff.

First computer I ever had was purchased in 1999. Gateway Essentials with a 20GB HDD. I thought, "Who could ever use all this space? Not me!!"

Well, I've got dual 80gig SATA HDDs now, and I'm looking for a 160--200gig backup drive.

There is just so much stuff out there. I spend too much time making videos of my RC planes and editing them. I should just buy a DVD burner and put them on disk. A 20 minute movie takes up several gigs.
