Big laptop problem (for me)

Hi,

Recently my laptop starts to hibernate/shut down randomly, which is really annoying. I saw on web that lots of ppl have same problem, but in addition to theirs, my problem includes:

-it is certain that it's not over heating, because once it hibernates randomly, I went away for about 30 minutes to let it cool, then as soon as I turn it off, it IMMEDIATELY goes into hibernation again! without me even seeing the enter password screen!

-I have my laptop plugged into mains all the time

-I tried disabling hibernation through power option, but it still happens. when I can turn laptop back on, I found that the "Enable hibernation" box is magically checked!

-I reinstalled window xp about half a month ago, with updates and anti-virus. but this never ever have happened b4 I reinstalled the OS

-the case of "it hibernates as soon as it is turned on" has happened serveral times

-I use AVG anti-virus, and it detects no malware (however, I can not guaranteer there is absolutely no malware in my laptop)

-Once, it did not even hibernate, it just goes off instantly: as if I unplugged the mains and battery!

I use an almost 5 year old laptop. model: LGW4 (I know it's not a good one, but I still dont think it should hibernate randomly)

If anyone can suggest anything helpful, it will be very VERY much appreciated

EDIT: could there be a problem in registry? Or something to do with the hiberfil.sys? Coz I ran a search and cant find hiberfil.sys in my C: drive

Just in case it matters, here is my HijackThis log

Are you sure it is actually hibernating??
If it is just shutting off it is probably a loose connection/ short circuit somewhere.
My laptop started doing just that last year, I got worse till eventually it would turn off as soon as it was moved/touched. I removed one of the RAM chips (i have 2 ram slots) and all was okay.
I replaced it with good RAM and the problem returned. Conclusion: the RAM slot had a loose connection or something which caused the laptop to shut off as soon as connection was lost.
I have seen another computer which does the same, but canot find where the fault is. I think the laptop will basically shut itself down in the event something becomes disconnected.
Try disconnecting different components (like RAM) etc, and see does it still happen. Also, the wires going to the screen can develop breaks/short circuits due to being moved constantly. Disconnect the screen from the motherboard and see will it start up and stay on.
Also, try with keyboard/mousepad disconnected. Wireless card, etc.
Basically, disconnect everything you can that will still allow the pc to boot up. Disconnect one at a time.

Note: If, for example, you find that the problem does not happen with the keyboard disconnected. this does not mean simply replacing the keyboard will fix the problem. It could be a loose connection/dry solder joint on the motherboard in the circuit path supplying the keyboard. Just be warned before you spend loads of cash on a new part which may not fix the problem.

Hope I helped.

Sometimes it hibernates, sometimes it just blacks out suddenly, sometimes a message shows up, saying "Preparing to hibernate", but the message stays for less than a second and the computer black out suddenly.

Also, this is a laptop, so it will be more difficult to take it apart component by component, so I will use that if all other possible solutions dont work. But thanks for the suggestion
