Ok...here is the big problem i have been having recently...I know it's true but i have not had any installed firewall for the past month and well...it finally happened my computer is sick.

Big problem here and im hopping i can find my answer here..search and found nothing so far..

Ok let me begin. Like i said previously it's been 1 month and This is my problem. Every time i download a file off the internet...example music/clips/software or even those Free virus check files...it appears on my desktop(The usual place) and when the download is complete my file disappears off the desktop...no where to be found!!...sounds creepy right? like im downloading ghost files right? Well it's freaking annoying....im a dj and i need my exclusive files that i can't get from limewire...Now here is the weird part...I tried download off of limewire and somehow the files that i download don't disappear at all....very weird. So i tried downloading those Free virus check and websites that check your computer...and nothing..i can't even get my cpu checked.

I lost all hope the other day and just decided to reformat my cpu...but thing is when i went into my Dell recovery drive and clicked on PcRestore to return it to factory setting...wait for it....the status bar went halfway and a window popped up saying "Error" cannot access file....I was suprised and angry a bit.......so i said screw this im going into Safe Mode......I tried again once more and this time at 3/4 loaded bar the same window appeared!!!.

Everything works just fine...i can make cd's upload files...etc etc...the only thing i can't do is download anything aside from doing it on limewire.

Pleaseee help!!!

You're obviously downloading illegally. This is the computer god's punishing you :P

Seriously though, post a hijack this log.

After doing the scans in the Basic Malware Removal sticky , if your problem persists, please take the following steps.

Download Hijackthis.
Install the program to the default directory.

Run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan and save a logfile".
Copy and paste the log into a new topic here. Please do not post your log in someone else's thread, even if you have the same problem as they do. Always make your own thread.

Don't name your thread "Hijackthis log", name it as something descriptive to the problems you have.

Give a description of the problems you are having, in as much detail as possible.

Do not fix anything unless advised to do so.

The download link?

http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

And stop that illegal bullshit dude, you just admitted your guilt (almost) on the internet.

Also, try this sticky:

http://www.computerforum.com/24782-basic-malware-removal.html

http://news.cnet.com/2100-1025_3-5121479.html

Also i did say example...im talking about basic files you would download off facebook etc.....IM a Dj..not a pirate software pro...not into it never will be...:D

Alright, so after attempting to download the files into my cpu to scan it...it won't get past the phase....i click on the link and the file downloads into my computer and then disappears off my desktop once it's done like it's been doing...so i can't access those download links...i tried the Trend House Call and when it loads my Java a windows pops up saying "An error occurred while trying to transfer data from the Internet!Do you want Trend Micro HouseCall to try resending the required files?" And when i click on yes...keeps appearing. :(

Any other way?

Follow these steps:

Step 1

If you already have SDFix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

  1. Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta from one of these locations and save it to your desktop.

    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3

  2. Double click on SDFix.exe. By default, it will install to C:\.
  3. Click on Install.

Please print out or save this set of instructions as you will not have internet access during the fix.

Next, boot into Safe Mode.

:!: Let me know if you can't boot into Safe Mode. Do not continue with the fixes.

  1. When you see BIOS screen, start pressing F8.
  2. A boot menu will appear shortly.
  3. Using the up down arrows, select Safe Mode and press the Enter key.
  4. Windows will now load.
  5. Log in to your usual account.
  6. Navigate to C:\SDfix (if you installed it to the default location, otherwise, locate where you installed it)
  7. Double click on RunThis.bat
  8. Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  9. It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  10. Press any key to reboot.
  11. When the PC restarts the tool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  12. Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen. You can also find the report in SDFix folder, named Report.txt.

Step 2:

Download and Run ComboFix
Before you download the newest version of ComboFix please make sure there's no older version of ComboFix on your desktop! If there is one, please delete it.

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop!

Now close any open browsers. Also close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. For information on how to do that for your programs see this webpage:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

When finished, it will produce a report for you. This report will also be saved in C:\ComboFix.txt

Note: Remember to re-enable your anti virus and anti malware programs.

Step 3:

Post these logs:

  • SDFix log
  • Combofix log

Like Stated above....any download link i click won't download correctly...it doesnt save...it somehow is getting auto-erased everytime i download..

Is there any way i can manually find my log?

Download it from another computer, take either a USB or a CD and put the two files on them. Once you inserted your USB/CD, copy and paste the files on your desktop, then run them in the order of the steps.

Please note that I suggest a CD, since the USB might be infected by what's on your computer.
