Big Problem!!!! Help PLZ

My buddies computer restarts itself upon opening windows xp. It gives you about 5-10 seconds before it automatically restarts itself. He knew that the computer would have tons of viruses on it. I ran it in safe mode with networking last night and installed avg. Found 6390 infected files!! I also heard this could be the sasser worm and installed the patch for it and found nothing. I'm stumped! Any suggestions or links that could possibly help me out?? Thnx for your time.
 
After you've installed the anti-virus, did you update all the definitions? If not, then try doing so A.S.A.P. There is also a possibility that some sort of malware might be causing this problem.
 
Do all the steps in the sticky under computer security and then post a hijack this log! This thread should be moved for buzz or byteman to look at!

PS: Do not scan your hard drive as a slave in another computer, yes you could catch the virus!
