BIG Problem

Hey everyone, I got a big problem with my computer. I have no idea what to even look for to find it. I woke up this morning and when i went to turn on my comp, it turned on for a split second and then just shut down. Later, I noticed a weird smell from it. (That smell when plastic or something like that burns.) Everything seems ok considering I was on it last night. What's the problem? Video card? mobo? CPU?

Powersupply? Unplug everything from the powersupply and stick a paperclip in a green and black pin. If the powersupply is still good it should start right up. Also can you pinpoint where the smell is coming from?

I was thinking the same thing so I have an extra one lying around and I swapped them. Same thing except this time if I hold the power button down, it starts like a dead car. I dont know how to explain if but it revs like when you can't start a car.

maybe somehow felt water during the night on it and short circuit happened ?
try to remove all parts and let them dry.

Ok so I figured out the problem. Turns out that my back fan's red wire was caught between the motherboard's back panel and the motherboard. The smell came from the wire which shorted out and made a small fire in the back :D Replaced the fan and everything works fine now.

Seems like cooling fans could be dangerous to mobo... jejeje... good to know, new issue to look down when repairing MB...
