Bios doesn't recognize HD

My bios doesn't seem to recognize my hard drive. Anything I can do?

How many hard drives do you have plugged in? Make sure your jumpers are in the proper spot. You jumpers are located at the back of your hard drive.

I had 2 then I unplugged 1. I changed the jumper numerous times

Are the hard drives the same brand, or different brand? Has it ever recognized both hard drives? Have you added a new hardware recently?

I have had many conflicts with this, so its kinda a try everything until it works.

same brand : western digital. 40 gig and 80 gig
This computer recognized both of them but the other won't recognize neither. the 40 is from this computer and the 80 gig is from the other computer: a dell

Wait, so you are saying that when they are in one at a time they work? But not together?

no i'm not saying that. I'm saying the computer i'm using right now recognizes both of them but dell doesn't recognize neither

O, well, then i have no clue. Dell sucks. Have you tried a different IDE cable/slot?

dunno if this matters but when I run the XP disk I can see the Hard drive
