BIOS not ACPI compliant

Ok windows was installed nicely on an IBM Netvista, but then it would boot, it gave a BSOD before the boot screen and it would also not load safe mode.
So i disabled the ACPI in the BIOS, also disabled USB functions and all but that did not solve the problem.
The windows XP setup also wouldn't work and give me the exact error.
according to google pressing F7 during the windows setup would solve the problem (disabling ACPI silently)
It did and now am re-installing windows but.....

question:

Is this a permanent fix ?
i mean will the ACPI be disabled permanently ?
am very curious cause that BSOD might hit at any minute

cheers all
