So I've bought a RocketRaid 640 RAID controller a while back and finally got around to installing it. The test machine is a Dell PowerEdge SC440 with a Xeon CPU and dual WD Caviar SE's.
Installed the controller in a 16x PCIe slot, computer booted into the cards bios, set up array, set array as boot, reboot, no boot device found. Went into mobo bios to make sure the controller is there, sure is, and is second in boot order after CD-rom (tried it first later also). Tried it in a 4x PCIe slot. Same sad story, no boot device found.
Is the controller faulty? If it was I assume I wouldn't be able to set up any arrays in the controllers bios.
If anyone has anything else I can try I'd be glad to do so.
