The way you could tell is to go into the bios (usually pressing del or f10 when you first turn you computer on and it will tell you under info or something like that what bios version you are running. If it says the one you are updating to then your good.

If the bios did not take I would find another way of applying it (from your post it seems like you are trying to flash from windows). If there is a standalone program to flash it with be it by USB or floppy it would be a better choice. Also I see that you are running a Foxconn board and more than likely it does not have the ability to come back from a bad flash so be careful when you are doing it. If the power goes out while you are flashing you will brick your motherboard (This is why I love ASUS, double bios`s plus easy flash makes sure that doesn`t happen)

What is your current BIOS holding you back from doing? If nothing, I would
just leave it.

If you must update it, then check with your board manufacturer and they
should have instructions how to do it properly.

actually, i found a program on my driver disc that applies the update for me, but thanks for the answers anyways sorry
