BIOS upgrade won't install

I'm having trouble upgrading my BIOS. i've tried flashing it from Intel's site, but when i go to install it, it say's that it's the wrong BIOS??? and i haven't been able to find an upgrade. they say the same things- wrong BIOS. I've been trying to put the P18 version of the BIOS on. it's used for systems with a D850GB motherboard, running Win. XP. any help would be appreciated.

why are you flashing?
Want to shut down this is a good place to do it.
Party over. unless related to critical update,
faster maybe, or getting some new hardware going.

just cuz it's the easy way to upgrade the BIOS and because it hasn't been upgraded since like 2002. i figured an upgrade would do it good.

Not always. If there is nothing wrong with your system that a bios update wouldn't fix then best thing to do would be to leave it alone. I'm actually surprised you haven't bricked the mobo yet trying to flash incorrect bios.

ok, then i won't try anymore, since it really doesn't work anyway. yeah, i was a tiny bit nervous about it, but before installation even began, it said it was the wrong BIOS. thanks.
