biostar 6100-M9 ... I messed up the boot :(

Hope someone can help me.

I stupidly enabled raid on my biostar 6100-M9 mobo although my PC was already configed perfectly and running smooth with a single SATAII drive..

The result was a windows boot lockdown (or whatever its correctly called)

By pressing F9 at boot I was/am able to select the boot drive from a list to get back into the system.

How do I make the PC auto boot from the correct drive again ?.... what options should I be looking for in the Bios ?

The reason I enabled raid what that I thought my sataII drive may have required it in order to work at full speed as both windows and my bios clearly state one option alone....sata1. As far as I am aware everyone states this mobo to be sataII enabled and my drive is certainly sataII.....enabling raid was my last option.

yep, I enabled raid not knowing what it really was

PLease help and I will be your friend :)

Just disable RAID in bios, and you should run fine. You dont need RAID unless you have two drives in RAID. and if your board only has SATA1, then you have to run your drive at SATA1 speeds.

I have disabled raid but I still have to manually select my boot drive unfortunately.

Im also running a venice 3200+

mobo should be sataII

any idea's.
thank you

try resetting the cmos, or if you have some other settings in there that you dont want to reset then just change the boot sequence and select the drive you want the board to look for first.

This is the second PC I have built. fortunately both went together without a glitch. I ave also tampered with components on other machines.....One of the main things that I have been afraid to do is reset the Cmos.

To be honest ....what's contained in the Cmos ?.

and, I know you have to set a jumper.... so,,,, you change the jumper setting according to the book and you switch it on ?.... on for how long ?

thanks

Thanks all. !:) :) :) :) :)

fixed it.

I was spurred on to explore the bios a bit more and fount that the boot sequence was well hidden. got it booting right now.

This bios is a lot more techy than prior bios I have encountered. but working now .... hurrah !

So.... now I still have the same problem that my SATAII drive is only operating at SATA1.
My sataII mobo only displays a sata1 option but clearly the biostar GeForce6100-M9 should be sataII enabled out of the box according to my mobo book.
