Bitmap error

I just put in a second 80GB IDE maxtor HD with jumper in "Cap Limit" becuase for some reason when i put it in "Slave Mode" and boot up it goes into Disc check and (D: ) (a.k.a The slave drive) has a "Bitmap Error" at ( 3 of 3) that repeats it's self to the infinity and beyond.

My computer sees the new HD. Do i need to do the Formatting in "Cap Limit" and then swith to "Slave mode"?

Sounds like the drive is failing, don't even use it.

the whole comp is failing I'm just trying to get it to work for now, till i get another one.

Use a different hard drive then.
